LONDON: UK’s Tax Department has terminated the bankruptcy period of Hassan Nawaz, son of Nawaz Sharif.

Following the completion of the bankruptcy repayment period, Hassan Nawaz is now eligible to resume normal business activities as a company director.

According to official records, the bankruptcy period for Hassan Nawaz ended on April 29, 2025.

The Tax Department confirmed that Hassan Nawaz’s bankruptcy was lifted due to his non-involvement in any illegal activities. Two months ago, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) had informed that Hassan Nawaz had declared himself bankrupt.

Hassan Nawaz had declared bankruptcy due to unpaid taxes amounting to approximately 10 million pounds.

He argued that despite paying all taxes, HMRC demanded additional payments after a certain period had elapsed.

It is important to note that once bankruptcy is discharged, the legal obligation to repay debts is lifted, and borrowers are barred from recovering the owed amounts.
