KURRAM: At least 14 more people have been killed and 13 others injured in ongoing clashes between two warring tribes in the Kurram District
According to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner, the violence erupted last night, with both sides using heavy weapons in their battle.
The clashes intensified despite earlier efforts to ease tensions. On November 24, at least 12 people had already lost their lives in similar confrontations. The recent escalation followed claims by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister’s Information and Public Relations Adviser, Barrister Dr. Saif, that the two tribes had agreed to a 7-day ceasefire and the release of hostages. The agreement was brokered after days of intense fighting.
Dr. Saif also confirmed that an official Jirga (tribal council) had completed its two-day visit to Kurram and returned to Peshawar. However, the renewed violence has cast doubts on the effectiveness of the ceasefire and highlighted the volatile situation in the region. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with hopes of restoring peace and stability to the area.
