Karachi: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warmly extended his congratulations to party workers on the occasion of Foundation Day, commemorating 57 years of steadfast dedication to promoting democracy, upholding the rule of law, and empowering citizens.
In a statement on Foundation Day, Bilawal emphasised the enduring legacy of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who established the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on November 30, 1967, at the home of the distinguished progressive leader Khurshid Hassan Mir in Lahore.
He conveyed Bhutto’s vision of creating an inclusive society grounded in equality, human rights, and economic prosperity. Bilawal also honored the sacrifices of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who valiantly fought for democracy with unparalleled courage and determination.
The chairman of the PPP emphasised the party’s significant impact on Pakistan’s history, highlighting the leadership of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who played a crucial role in formulating the Constitution of Pakistan in 1973.
“It was Quaid-e-Awam who laid the groundwork for Pakistan’s nuclear program, bolstering the nation’s defence capabilities. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) championed transformative reforms in land redistribution, labor rights, and education, setting the stage for meaningful social progress. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the first woman to lead a Muslim-majority country, not only fortified democracy but also advocated for women’s empowerment, advanced social welfare initiatives, and spearheaded the development of cruise missile technology,” said Bilalwal Bhutto
He further said, “PPP has always been the voice of the marginalised, the defender of workers and peasants rights, and a staunch advocate for the empowerment of women and minorities. Since its inception, the PPP has remained steadfast in its mission to create a peaceful, progressive and prosperous Pakistan.”
“On this momentous occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to the party’s core values and dedicate ourselves to the well-being of our citizens. United in purpose, we will strive to realize our dream of a democratic and inclusive Pakistan,” the PPP chairman stated.
