Corruption Cases: SHC Seeks Progress Report from NAB

Karachi (August 18, 2017) The Sindh High Court on Friday sought report from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) about progress on the corruption cases against former Inspector General Police, Sindh Ghulam Hiader Jamali and others.

A division bench of the SHC on Friday heard the bail application of DSP Mir Muhammad and others, co-accused in the illegal appointments in SRP Hyderabad with former IGP Sindh Ghulam Hider Jamali and other high police officers.

During the course of hearing, Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh remarked that on whose instructions the police officer made illegal appointment in police. “After all someone would have asked them to induct his/her men in police and given them chit,” the court remarked.The CJ asked NAB as to why it was not going against those who are the root cause of corruption.

Upon this, NAB special prosecutor said that former IGP Ghulam Haider Jamali and other high ups of the police were also accused in the reference. He told the court that the Bureau had completed investigation against the former IGP and other police high ups in the illegal appointment case. He said that a reference had already been filed in the matter.’

The court while clubbing the bail applications of the petitioners with that of former IGP Ghulam Hiader Jamali and others and adjourned hearing till September 15, 2017.
