WEB DESK: Eid ul-Adha witnessed the sacrifice of approximately 6.977 million animals across the country.
During the Eid celebrations, the sacrificial animal market was at its peak, with nearly 6.977 million animals sacrificed.
According to a report released by the Tanners Association, this year saw a reduction of 600,000 to 1 million animals sold during the Eid, including cows, goats, sheep, and camels. Specifically, 3 million cows, 3.4 million goats, 400,000 sheep, and 100,000 camels were sacrificed.
The report indicates a decrease in the prices of sacrificial animals, with total revenue from sales estimated to be less than 500 billion rupees. The price of cows decreased by 25,000 to 150,000 rupees, while goat prices increased by 10,000 to 50,000 rupees.
The prices of camels also saw an increase. The estimated value of the skins from sacrificed animals this year is around 6.35 billion rupees, highlighting the economic significance of this important religious festival.
