ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Asad Umar has been unanimously elected chairman of National Assembly (NA) standing committee on finance.
Asad Umar after elected as chairman of the committee thanked all the members and said that the committee should be briefed over the IMF program.
Asad Umar said that during the talks with the IMF he was not able to say something about the program, however, now he will inform the masses why government contacted the IMF and what conditions the IMF placed with Pakistan and which were agreed.
He also directed to make the IMF program and FATF conditions agenda of the next meeting of the committee.
The members said at the occasion that all the basics decision regarding the economy should be taken in the standing committee of finance instead of the ministry of finance.
