Islamabad: The Christian community is celebrating the Easter on Sunday.
Special prayer ceremonies are being arranged in different Churches of the country. The day started with special religious rituals, prayers and an exchange of greetings.
Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar says Christian community has played an important role in the establishment of Pakistan.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with Christian festival Easter in Lahore on Sunday, he said services of Christian community are unforgettable in the security and survival of the country.
He said Constitution of Pakistan provides equal rights to all communities including Christians in the country.
Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has felicitated the Christian community on the eve of Easter.
In a statement in Lahore today, she said Pakistan is the homeland of all of us regardless of race, religion, caste and creed and festival of Easter will promote spirit of harmony and humanity in society.
