Complete Shutdown Observed In Occupied Kashmir

Srinagar (December 26, 2017): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama and Badgam districts on Monday, to protest against atrocities of the Indian army and police.

All shops and other business establishments were closed while traffic was off the roads in both districts.The troops ruthlessly beat a class 12th student, Rasiq Altaf, at Khrew in Pulwama district, last night, when he was shifting his ailing mother to a hospital for treatment.

The residents of Pampore and Khag blocked roads to protest against the Indian atrocities in the areas. Indian forces launched a cordon and search operation in Wathoo area of Shopian district, today.The troops laid a siege to the village, smashed windowpanes of residential houses and damaged private vehicles without any provocation.

Meanwhile, media reports quoting the wife of jailed Hurriyat leader, Farooq Ahmad Dar, revealed that Indian authorities approached her in a bid to prevail upon her husband to leave the path to freedom in exchange for his release, but she rejected the offer altogether.

Farooq Ahmad Dar is lodged in Tihar jail in a fake case, registered against him India’s National Investigation Agency in 2016.

The Kashmir Bar Association and Hurriyat leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in their separate statements expressed satisfaction over the joint declaration issued at the end of First Six-Nation Speakers Conference, in Islamabad, which stressed the need for settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions.
