Govt Seeks Proposals For Election Reforms

ISLAMABAD: The Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaisar has convened a meeting of parliamentary leaders on September 28 to allay doubts over the next elections and the Gilgit-Baltistan elections in November.

Asad Qaisar has sent letters to the parliamentary leaders in the National Assembly, including Shahbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asad Mahmood, Khawaja Asif and others, in which he said that doubts are being expressed regarding the transparency in the upcoming elections in Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Speaker National Assembly asked all the parliamentary leaders to propose amendments to relevant laws, rules and procedures for the transparency of elections.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur also wrote letter to opposition leaders sought proposals for holding transparent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
