Maryam’s Judicial Remand Extended for Another 14 Days

LAHORE: Accountability court in Lahore on Friday extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz and her cousin Yousuf Abbas for another 14 days in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

Both Maryam and Yusuf were presented before the accountability court Judge Ameer Muhammad Khan on the expiry of their judicial remand.

During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor told the court that inquiry against Maryam Nawaz was started in 2008.

“Maryam laundered money under the pretence of Chaudhry Sugar Mills with the help of foreigners,” he said.

The prosecutor further said the PML-N vice president also invested big amounts on the Mills.

On ther other hand, Maryam Nawaz broke into tears while talking about the health of her ailing father Nawaz Sharif, who is under treatment at Lahore’s Services Hospital after his platelet count significantly dropped.

After hearing the arguments, the court extended the judicial remand of Maryam and Yusuf and directed the concerned authorities to submit fresh medical reports of former premier Nawaz till 1pm for further process.

Earlier, Maryam Nawaz had filed a bail plea in Lahore High Court (LHC) in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, requesting the court to release her on bail as her father is unwell and undergoing medical treatment at the hospital.
