Nisar Morai indicted in ex-PSM chairman’s murder case

KARACHI: A local court on Friday indicted former chairman Fishermen Co-operative Society (FCS) Nisar Morai in the murder case of former chairman Pakistan Steel Mill (PSM) Sajjad Hussain.

A local court on Friday heard the murder case of former PSM chairman Sajjad Hussain. During the hearing, the court indicted the accused Nisar Morai and read out the charges to him.

The accused rejected the charges against him.  On this the court directed prosecution to produce its witnesses in next date of hearing.

It is to be mentioned here that FCS chairman, who is a close aide of a Sindh’s influential political figure, was arrested on March 11, 2016 from Islamabad on the charges of corruption and embezzlement in FCS funds and money laundering.

Following his arrest, the accused was produced in an anti-terrorism court in a case of financing Lyari gangsters and Ranger secured his 90 remand from the court.  On March 31, 2016, reports appeared in the press that Morai during investigation had revealed that speed boats were being used to smuggle  money out of Pakistan through sea routes.

In June , 2016, Morai reportedly made important revelations regarding the murder of former Chairman PSM Sajjad Hussain during investigation by a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) .  As per the JIT report, Morai had said that the plan to murder Sajjad Husain was made at a café in Clifton.

He had reportedly confessed that he along with former Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza monitored the movement of the slain PSM chairman before his murder.

He had further told the investigators that at the time of Sajjad murder he was present near his car.

On  October 17, 2016, a local court had granted him bail in Sajjad Hussain’s murder case.
