Islamabad (July 2, 2017): The Prime Minister’s cousin Tariq Shafi will appear before the six-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT), tasked with probing the business dealings of PM Nawaz Sharif and his family abroad, today at Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad.
Whereas a JIT meeting, chaired by Federal Investigation Agency’s Additional Director General (immigration) Wajid Zia prepared questionnaires for Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz on Saturday.
The JIT has summoned Hasan Nawaz on July 3, his elder brother Hussain Nawaz on July 4 and Maryam Nawaz on July 5.
Tariq Shafi had previously submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that he was part of all transactions relating to sale of Dubai properties owned by Mian Sharif, father of PM Nawaz Sharif and transfer of that money to Qatar. The summons also asked the respondents to bring forth relevant documents related to the Sharif family’s financial assets.
The JIT was in the process of winding up the probe by next week, after which it would finish compiling the final investigation report by the second week of July before it was submitted to the apex court by the July 10 deadline. Sources said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar likely to be summed by the JIT next week.
