Formation of Govt in Punjab: PPP Meeting With Shehbaz Underway

Islamabad (July 30, 3018): Pakistan Mulsim League Nawaz’s meeting is underway to discuss matters pertaining to the formation of Government in Punjab and role of strong opposition in National Assembly.

PML-N President, Shehbaz Sharif is chairing the meeting of the party, in which matters of talks with PPP are being reviewed.Meanwhile, delegations of JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman Group and the PPP will soon reach to meet PML-N leaders.

According to sources, Shehbaz is also expected to meet his brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who was shifted from Adyala prison to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences late Sunday.

Punjab Home Minister Shaukat Javed said that Shehbaz is yet to be given permission to meet Nawaz at the hospital, which has been declared a sub-jail as the former premier has been convicted for corruption in the Avenfield case.On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf claimed it will get the required number of seats to form the government in Punjab.

In a statement to the media, PTI spokesman said four more candidates have pledged alliance to the party.

The total count of PTI’s seats in the provincial assembly will reach 148 by tonight, Naeemul Haq claimed. He further added that the party was in contact with other independent candidates in Punjab. According to sources familiar with the matter, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) will form an alliance with PTI.

A delegation of PML-Q is scheduled to meet PTI chief Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence in the federal capital later today.The alliance could add eight seats to PTI’s total — seven candidates of PML-Q and one independent candidate who joined the party earlier.

The support of at least 148 members is required for a party to have its chief minister elected in the province.
