PTI Chief Imran Condemns Peshawar Blast Incident

Islamabad (November 24, 2017): Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has strongly condemned the Peshawar Blast incident.

Expressing his emotions on social media site, the PTI leader said that terrorism will not deter the determination of KP police and PTI government.

Earlier, a senior police official and his gunman were martyred in a suicide blast in Hayatabad, Peshawar on Friday morning, police said.

According to the details, at least two people including Additional Inspector General (AIG) Headquarters Ashraf Nur were martyred in a suicide blast that occurred in Hayatabad Phase 2 area of Peshawar on Friday.

Six others in the AIG’s squad were injured as a result of the blast. They were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, CCPO Tahir Khan told reporters.

According to police sources, A suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into their vehicle near Tatara Park. AIG Ashraf Noor was on his way to work when his vehicle came under attack. The explosion was so intense that it broke the window panes of nearby buildings.Heavy contingent of police personnel have cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation.

The vehicle caught fire after the blast and a thick cloud of smoke could be seen billowing from the area. Police has found the body organs of the suicide bomber and motorcycle parts from the crime scene. Police say that the bomber was likely riding the motorcycle.

AIG Ashraf Noor hailed from Gilgit Baltistan and joined the police force in 1989. He previously served as AIG Elite Force Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The site of the blast was cordoned off as security forces conducted a search operation in the area and attempted to gather evidence.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG Salahuddin Khan Mehsud confirmed that the explosion was a suicide blast. While paying tribute to the martyred AIG, Mehsud said that they are in a state of war and will continue to fight terrorism with full strength.
