Punjab Govt to Install Air Treatment Plant in Lahore

Lahore (October 11, 2017) Punjab government started measures to avoid harmful and toxic gasses in Lahore on Thursday.

As per details, Punjab commerce and investment department has taken immediate measures to prevent harmful toxic gases in Lahore due to current industrialisation and urbanisation trends in Punjab.

For this purpose, government will install Treatment Plant in Sundar industrial estate and Quaid-e-Azam industrial estate in Lahore to decrease all the pollutants in the lower levels of the atmosphere.Air pollution is an issue that needs to be urgently addressed as Lahore is now considered amongst the most polluted cities in Asia. In addition, the institutional and technical capacity of organisations responsible for air quality management needs to be strengthened.

The Punjab government has also instituted a number of emergency measures to mitigate the pollution, such as banning the burning of agricultural waste and closing steel mill factories.

Punjab Government also sealed steel mills who have not installed air pollution control devices.
