Road Accidents Can Be Reduced To Half By Enacting Road Safety Laws, Strengthening Emergency Services: Sadiq

Islamabad: Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani regretted that the road safety is not accorded much priority.

He pointed out the United Nations General Assembly has set a target of halving the global number of deaths and injuries from road traffic crashes by 2030.

He said it is high time to take steps to meet these targets through concrete steps including through enacting road safety laws, awareness and strengthening emergency health services.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, also the President International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC), said globally around 1.3 million people die and 50 million get injured in traffic accidents annually.

In Pakistan, he emphasized prioritizing the efforts to enact road safety laws at par with international standards and educate the stakeholders.
