Sr MQM leader Saleem Shehzad ends self exile, arrives in Karachi, arrested

Saleem Shehzad, a founding member of the MQM, has ended his self exile after 25 years and has returned back to the country from London where he was arrested at the airport as per SSP Malir Rao Anwar Ahmad.

Saleem Shehzad’s passport has also been confiscated by the FIA.

SSP Malir Rao Anwar Ahmad has whisked Saleem Shehzad away from the airport in a armored police vehicle. He was shifted to Gadap police station under stringent police security.

Meanwhile MQM Pakistan has demanded abolishing fake cases against Saleem Shehzad and he be released. Saleem Shehzad is a political worker he should be given a chance to clarify his face, it added.

He has just returned to Karachi on a foreign airline after years in self exile in Britain.

Saleem Shehzad, who remained in extended self exile, had left politics for quite some time. He had supported chief of MQM Pakistan Farooq Sattar after the situation developed after August 22 and had announced returning back to the country.

He decided to return back to the country from Dubai two days ago. He had left the country after the 1992 Operation.

Talking to media at the airport after his arrival in Karachi Saleem Shehzad said that he would accept the decision of the courts in over 20 cases registered at various police stations of Karachi.

Saleem Shehzad has been declared an absconder in Dr Asim case about providing treatement to terrorists.

Saleem Shehzad is regarded as a close confidant of MQM founder.
