Syria: 39 Civilians Killed in Arms Depot Blast

Syria (August 13, 2018): An explosion at a weapons depot in Idlib province of Syria has killed at least 39 civilians.

According to details, 39 civilians killed in arms depot explosion in Idlib province, near Turkish border includes 12 kids and many women. According to sources, large quantity of explosive material was kept in collapsed building, by an arms smuggler.

According to international news agency, rescue workers used a bulldozer to remove rubble and extract trapped people.

A previous toll of 12 civilians killed increased after more bodies were retrieved from the rubble, said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor.

He further added that most of those killed were family members of fighters from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, an alliance led by jihadists from Syria’s former Al-Qaeda affiliate, who had been displaced to the area from the central province of Homs.
