Erosion of sea land along Sindh, Baluchistan area revealed

It is revealed that 22 lakh acres of land along sea belt in Sindh and Baluchistan have been eroded due to sea intrusion.

With the sea intrusion, the threats to life and property have increased, while, cyclone threat from the Arabian sea to Sindh and Baluchistan coast has also increased.

In this regard, the sub-committee of senate of senate standing committee on planning has prepared recommendation which stated that it is matter of research to know whether the land eroded due to sea intrusion could be found again or not.

The committee also recommended to the matter of land erosion in Sindh and Baluchistan be added to vision 2025 and the matter be raised in council of common interests and it is also recommended to construct super highway from Sir Creek to Karachi and other road infrastructure.

For the people of the area, the committee recommended that they must be given boards and nets that they could start their livelihoods and earning.

The report said that in coconut and palm trees plantation must be encouraged in coastal areas adding that equipments be fixed at coastal areas for constant monitoring.

Finally, it is also recommended that the report be presented in senate next session for discussion.
