KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department has announced the extension of Section 144 across the province for an additional month, citing current concerns over law and order. The new order will be effective from August 1, 2026, and will remain in force until September 1, 2026.
Under this directive, activities such as wall chalking, protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, public gatherings, rallies, and any other actions considered unlawful are strictly prohibited. The ban also includes the public display of weapons, with authorities emphasizing that carrying or displaying firearms in a manner that incites fear or panic is not allowed.
Furthermore, private security firms are instructed to adhere to enhanced regulations. Security personnel are permitted to carry weapons only during their official duties and are prohibited from carrying firearms openly on foot or displaying them publicly outside their designated roles. Additionally, security officers traveling in vehicles must keep their weapons secured inside the vehicle, and the public display of firearms during patrols or outdoor activities is banned.
Authorities have issued stern warnings that any individual found violating these restrictions will face legal proceedings under Pakistan’s Penal Code. Police station chiefs (SHOs) are directed to register cases swiftly and enforce strict action against violators of the order.
