ISLAMABAD: The National Accountably Bureau (NAB) has directed former president Asif Zardari to appear before the NAB’s investigation team on May 23 with the answers of the questionnaire asked by anti-graft watchdog.
As per details, the former president appeared before the NAB’s investigation team where he was questioned in at least three to four cases for about one hour.
According to sources, the former president was questioned in a land agreement of the metropolis. Zardari was also questioned for taking kickbacks of worth Rs1.22 billion in J.V Opal case and providing a contract of water supply to Hareesh Company.
The former president was also questioned for allegedly taking funds to run the affairs of Nau Dero house from Wadood Engineering, Zain Malik and sanctioning a loan for Park Lane Company cases.
After the appearance, Zardari’s counsel Farooq H.Naek told the press that NAB is failed to provide any evidence over the direct involvement of the former president in any of the cases.
He said that the former president is a shareholder in J.V Opal Company that does not prove any loss to the national exchequer.
