Government to present 18 trillion rupees budget for 2025-26 in National Assembly today

ISLAMABAD: The federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026 will be presented today in the National Assembly under the chairmanship of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The session will commence at 5 PM, during which the agenda’s first part will be completed with recitation of the Holy Quran, Hadith, Na’at, and the National Anthem.

With the permission of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Finance Sardar Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the Budget for 2025-2026. Additionally, revenue and other financial documents will also be submitted with the Speaker’s approval.

On this occasion, the Speaker has called an advisory meeting with parliamentary leaders to strategize for the budget session, which will include representatives from the opposition such as Asad Qaiser, Barrister Gohar, leaders from PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F.

Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb has also released the National Economic Survey.

According to the survey, the provisional growth rate of the economy for the current fiscal year is 2.68%, compared to a target of 3.6%. The size of Pakistan’s economy this year was $410.96 billion, up from $371.66 billion last year. The economic survey also states that the growth of major crops was negative.
