ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral (retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Sirohey passed away in Islamabad.
Admiral Sirohey made history as the second four-star admiral in the Pakistan Navy to be appointed as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
He served as the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of Pakistan Navy from 1986 to 1988, and later ascended as the sixth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from 1988 until retiring in 1991.
He also fought in 1965 and 1971 wars against India.
