Fort Abbas’s Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif named in cryptocurrency fraud case

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has filed a case against two brothers, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, over their alleged involvement in a cryptocurrency scam.

According to reports from the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Islamabad, the accused Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, sons of Muhammad Sharif reside in Fort Abbas, located in District Bahawalnagar.

Authorities stated that the suspects impersonated online cryptocurrency traders and deceived the complainant into investing funds by promising lucrative returns. The victims were persuaded to transfer money via a Binance address and transactions amounting to $37,000.

Unfortunately, the promised profits were never delivered, nor was the initial investment reimbursed, the agency added.

As part of the investigation, officials collected relevant records from banking institutions and other sources, which allegedly connect the accused to the fraud involving the complainant, identified as Hasaan Mohsin.

The case has been registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. Authorities also mentioned that further investigation will reveal if additional individuals are involved with Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif in this fraudulent activity.
