Gilani cleared of all charges in TDAP corruption cases

KARACHI: On Friday, federal anti-corruption court cleared Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani of all charges in three cases related to corruption involving the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

Former Prime Minister was in attendance at the court during the announcement of the verdict regarding his acquittal pleas.

Speaking to the media after hearing, chairman senate said that, the case was filed against him in 2009.

He further remarked that, it transpired as all approvers in the case have now turned into culprits and are evading justice by fleeing the country.

He recalled that the case was made against him by our current allied government but he has no complaint about it.

Gilani said, they will fully support the government and will not backstab it.

He mentioned that, another Senate member had been detained, calling on both the federal and Punjab governments to bring him before the House.

He added that a production order would be issued if the member failed to attend today’s session.

The Senate chairman said, he always acted in accordance with the Constitution and law. He also lamented over talks shows, saying planted people were invited for criticism of lawmakers over official tours.

Gilani said, official tours are necessary, adding that they could not defame the country.
