G.BALTISTAN: The newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly is scheduled to convene its first session on Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the Assembly Hall in Gilgit, marking the official start of the assembly’s new term following the 2026 general elections.
According to the Assembly Secretariat, the session will be chaired by Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate, following the procedures outlined in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Rules of Procedure, 2017.
During this session, the elected members will take their oath of office, formally entering their legislative roles. The Assembly Secretariat has emphasized the importance of punctual attendance from all newly elected lawmakers to ensure the smooth conduct of the proceedings.
In addition, the election for the position of the Assembly’s Speaker is anticipated to be held on the same day, which will set the stage for establishing the new leadership of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.
