Google to provide 350,000 career certificates to Pakistani students to boost digital skills

WEB DESK: In a significant move to enhance digital literacy, Google has announced the distribution of 350,000 Google Career Certificates to students across Pakistan. This initiative is part of Google’s expanded effort to equip young professionals and students with cutting-edge digital skills, including expertise in artificial intelligence (AI).

The tech giant revealed that it has added an additional 150,000 scholarships for Pakistani students this year, increasing the total number of available certificates under the program. These online, industry-recognized courses will cover a diverse range of fields such as AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, project management, digital marketing, and e-commerce.

Google emphasized that the primary goal of this initiative is to empower youth by developing skills that can enhance employment opportunities, foster freelance careers, and promote entrepreneurship. Since 2022, Google has steadily increased its investment in digital education in Pakistan and is now broadening the scope into a more comprehensive workforce development effort.

The program is being rolled out in partnership with local organizations, including Tech Valley, the Punjab Higher Education Commission, and the Higher Education Department.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has directed officials to complete at least two Google Career Certificate courses. This move aims to encourage the effective adoption of AI and other advanced digital technologies across government departments to modernize public sector operations.
