ISLAMABAD: The government has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demand to form a judicial commission on the riots of May 9.
According to sources, the government’s negotiation team has prepared a written response to PTI’s demands, addressing each demand in detail.
The government’s written response states that a judicial commission cannot be formed on the May 9 incidents, as judicial commissions are typically formed for matters that are not under discussion in the courts. The cases related to May 9 are already in the courts, and some defendants have already been sentenced by military courts.
The response also asks PTI to provide a list of missing persons and details of arrested individuals related to the November 26 incidents, stating that without the names and details of the arrested individuals, no steps can be taken for their release.
The government’s response also requests PTI to provide details of the alleged fatalities, as PTI claims that deaths occurred during the incidents. The government committee is expected to submit its written response to the Speaker of the National Assembly in the coming days, and the Speaker will decide on holding the fourth round of talks after receiving the response.
It is worth mentioning that during the third round of talks between the government and PTI’s negotiation committees, PTI presented written demands, which included the formation of a judicial commission on the events of May 9 and November 26, as well as the release of party leaders and workers, including Imran Khan.
