KARACHI: Authorities rushed to the scene after reports of heavy gunfire and an explosion near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 in Karachi on Saturday, police said.
According to officials, police and other law enforcement agencies were immediately deployed to the area to assess the situation and secure the vicinity.
In response to the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed the Sindh Inspector General of Police and the Karachi Additional Inspector General to submit a comprehensive report. A spokesperson for the chief minister said the report would cover the events near Mosmiyat Chowrangi.
As a precaution, authorities closed the road linking Mosmiyat Chowrangi with Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 and Kamran Chowrangi. Police also sealed the route connecting Mosmiyat Chowrangi to Chaman Iqbal Colony to facilitate security operations.
Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also sought an immediate briefing from the Karachi AIG on the incident.
