IHC acquits Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Cipher Case

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday acquitted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and vice-chairman of the party Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

A divisional bench of the IHC comprising Chief Justice IHC Amir Farooq and Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzaib pronounced the reserved verdict after approving the petitions of Imran Khan and Shah Mahood Qureshi against the punishment in the cipher by the trial court.

The court suspended the punishment given by the trial court.

Chief Justice IHC Amir Farooq pronounced the short order in the case.

The court also annulled the trial court verdict in the cipher case against the PTI chairman and Vice-Chairman.

The Court also ordered the release of the both leaders of the PTI.

The trial court had awarded punishment of 10 years each to Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
