ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided to remove Mohammad Arshad Malik as judge of Accountability Court of Islamabad, according to former’s spokesperson.
In this regard, acting IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq has inked a letter to Ministry of Law.
The judge was surrounded with controversy after PML-N released a video which apparently claimed that Arshad Malik had been “pressurised and blackmailed” to convict former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Al-Azizia Mills reference.
Earlier in the day, Arshad Malik called on IHC Registrar and handed him a letter in which he clarified all the allegations imposed on him.
IHC spokesperson said: “In his letter, Judge Arshad Malik rebuffed all accusations regarding the video and termed them baseless. He attached his affidavit and press release with the letter”.
After the high court reviewed Mr Malik’s letter, it decided to axe him as judge of Accountability Court, the spokesperson added.
