IMF, govt talks to get tranche of 1bn dollars continue as albeit demands cut in expenditures

Islamabad: The negotiations between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) review mission and the government economic team are underway on Thursday, today, to receive next tranche of one billion dollar from 7 billion dollars package agreed last year.

The world financial body and the government conducting a detailed consultations on performance of existing fiscal year and targets of the next financial year.

The IMF demanded the government raising earnings and reducing expenditures.

On the other hand the government has ensured reducing the burden on exchequer further through right sizing.

The government apprised the IMF review delegation that it has completely eradicated empty posts of 1,50,000 in the government departments on constant basis.

The government plan is also under consideration to pay dues to additional employees in the government departments through golden hand shake, the government apprised to the IMF.

The government further informed to the IMF mission in its briefing that the employees of different government departments will be offered volunteer retirement.
