Indian cricket star Virat Kohli faces defeat in India vs Australia test series 2025

Sydney: On Sunday, Australia defeated India in the Sydney Test to win the 5-match Border Gavaskar Trophy 1-3.

In a stunning turn of events, Virat Kohli suffer a defeat in a Test match this year, as India faced off against Australia in a thrilling Test series. The much-anticipated series concluded with Australia emerging victorious, marking a significant moment in both teams’ cricketing journeys.

The final Test, held at a packed stadium, saw intense competition as both sides fought fiercely for supremacy. Despite a valiant effort from the Indian squad, led by Kohli, the Australians showcased their grit and determination, ultimately sealing the match and the series.

Kohli’s record as a batting star has been nothing short of remarkable, but this defeat marks a significant departure from his recent successes. Fans and cricket analysts alike have expressed their astonishment at the outcome, with many discussing the implications for Kohli’s leadership and the future of Indian cricket.

Australia defeated India by 6 wickets in the Sydney Test and qualified for the final of the World Test Championship and India’s dream of playing the final was shattered.

On the other hand Australian Captain Pat Cummins commented on Virat Kohli,

He said, it would be sad if the recently concluded Border Gavaskar series was Virat Kohli’s last Down Under, adding they enjoyed playing against him.

“It’s always been a wonderful contest. More than just the runs that he scored, he brings a bit of theatre to the game which is sometimes good and sometimes it can rile you up as an opposition, which I’m sure is part of his plans,” Cummins said after Australia won the BGT 3-1 on Sunday.

“Enjoyed playing with him. You know, he’s been one of the star batters for the last decade or so. You know, if you get his wicket it goes a long way to winning a game so yeah, it will be sad if it’s his last series,” he added.

Kohli, who came into the series looking to find form in a country where he loves to bat, could not spark into life. Except a lone century in the 2nd innings in Perth, the star India batter scored just 5, 7, 11, 3, 36, 5, 17 and 6 in all the 5 matches. That brings his runs in the whole series as a mere 190, a far cry of what was expected before the BGT began.
