WEB DESK: The Indian Supreme Court has authorised the killing of stray dogs.
According to Indian media reports, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court regarding a petition to modify the relocation of stray dogs, during which the court granted permission to authorities to euthanize stray dogs.
A bench composed of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and NV Anjaria dismissed the petitions and declared the presence of stray dogs in public spaces as a dangerous situation.
The court stated that, in accordance with laws controlling animal population and other applicable legal protocols, dogs that are deemed dangerous to humans can be euthanized.
The Indian Supreme Court emphasized that it cannot ignore incidents where animals have attacked people, especially children.
Additionally, the court expressed its displeasure with the state governments, criticizing their failure to comply with previous directives issued in this regard.
