Indus River is ours and will remain ours, Bilawal’s stark warning to India

SUKKUR: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto has said that, the Indus River is ours and will remain ours. He wants to send a message to India that our water will flow over it, or their blood.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari delivered a speech at a rally in Sukkur, sharply criticizing India over the recent Pulwama false flag operation, asserting that Modi is making baseless accusations against Pakistan to cover up his own failures.

Bilawal stated that according to the Indus Water Treaty, India also recognizes that the Indus River belongs to us. He emphasized that it is unacceptable for India to claim they do not recognize the treaty.

“We are the guardians of the Indus River and will protect it at all costs. Our armed forces at the border will give a strong response to India,” he said.

He acknowledged that, although India’s population is larger, the people of Pakistan are proud and will stand their ground. Bilawal sent a message to India that the Indus River belongs to Pakistan and will remain ours. He said, “The water of the Indus will flow for us or their blood will flow.”

Bilawal pointed out that, there has been yet another attack on the Indus River from India, but every Pakistani will become an ambassador for the Indus and convey the message to the world that any theft on the Indus is unacceptable. “The four provinces of Pakistan are like four brothers, and together we will give Modi a strong response. Our struggle will continue until India retracts its decision to terminate the Indus Water Treaty.”

He pledged that, the PPP would stand alongside the Prime Minister and the government against India’s intentions. “We will be the voice of the federation, and we will not allow anyone to infringe on the rights of the people.”

Bilawal also condemned the incident in occupied Kashmir, highlighting that they too have been affected by terrorism. However, he criticized the Modi government for making unfounded accusations against Pakistan to hide its failures.

Regarding the issue of canals being diverted from the Indus River, Bilawal mentioned that an agreement has been reached between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the PPP, assuring that no further canals will be constructed on the Indus River. He stated that the signatures of leaders from both parties are present on this agreement.

“The agreement specifies that, no canal can be constructed without the approval of the Council of Common Interests. The government has called a meeting for this council on May 2, and it has been decided that any projects on which consensus is not reached will be rejected. In the next meeting of the Council of Common Interests, we will terminate the canal project on the Indus River,” he concluded.
