ISLAMABAD: The inflation rate in Pakistan has decreased to its lowest level in 78 months.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the inflation rate for November 2024 stood at 4.9%, a decrease from 7.2% in October 2024.
When inflation was recorded at 29.2% in the month of November 2023, In November 2024, inflation was 5.2% in urban areas and 4.3% in rural areas.
The Bureau also reported a modest 0.5% increase in food prices last month, with notable price hikes in tomatoes, eggs, mung beans, honey, and potatoes.
Additionally, the data showed increases in the prices of ghee, butter, dry fruits, fish, and cooking oil, as well as wheat, ready-made foods, beverages, wheat flour, shoes, and electronic goods.
On a positive note, prices for chicken, mung dal, vegetables, and fruits fell last month, while prices for chickpeas, onions, spices, sugar, jaggery, lentils, and rice also saw a decline.
