TEHRAN: Iran has issued a firm warning that it will take strong measures in response to any future aggression by the United States, accusing Washington of breaching a recent ceasefire agreement through its recent military actions.
In an official statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry criticized the U.S. strikes, asserting they violate the terms of the ceasefire memorandum signed earlier. A spokesperson for the ministry emphasized that these attacks reveal the United States’ disregard for its commitments, stating, “Breaking promises is inherent to the US government’s nature.”
The spokesperson reaffirmed Iran’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting the country remains ready to retaliate against any acts of aggression.
Tensions continue to escalate in the Gulf region as both Iran and the U.S. accuse each other of violating a fragile interim deal inked less than two weeks ago, aimed at ending a four-month conflict.
Following President Donald Trump’s warning that the U.S. could “militarily finish the job,” Iran launched a series of missile and drone strikes against U.S. military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain early Sunday, intensifying the ongoing hostilities.
The U.S. military responded with strikes of its own against Iranian targets, shortly after a tanker was damaged in the Strait of Hormuz—an essential global energy shipping route that Iran had largely shut down during the dispute.
The 14-point US-Iran interim agreement was designed to pause hostilities, which initially erupted on February 28, and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for shipping while negotiations on more complex issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, continued.
A U.S. official confirmed the strikes on the facilities, indicating that the situation remains fluid, though no U.S. casualties or significant damage to U.S. assets in the Middle East have been reported thus far.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a statement condemning the U.S. strikes, claiming they breach the ceasefire and will halt diplomatic efforts. The statement also warned that American military bases in the region “will face severe consequences in the coming days,” according to state media reports.
