ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed on Thursday Senator Irfan Siddiqui as the spokesperson for the government’s allied negotiation committee.
Irfan Siddiqui served as the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate.
The appointment came as part of efforts to facilitate dialogue between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Separately, few days back, Advisor to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said on Tuesday that the incumbent government was ready to hold political talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Expressing his thoughts during the National Assembly session, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart labelled the dialogues with the opponents as the “extraordinary development”. “The prime minister has said that we [government] are ready to hold talks on every matter.”
Sanaullah maintained: “The negotiation committee of the PTI should send message to the government for talks.”
“The democratic system cannot be run without the proceeding of the negotiations between the government and opposition,” he said.
