WEB DESK: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli military will remain deployed in southern Lebanon even after the deadline set in the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
The statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s office mentioned that the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah have not yet been fully implemented.
The ceasefire agreement in Lebanon was implemented on November 27, 2024, under which Hezbollah was to remove its fighters and weapons from the south of the Litani River within 60 days, the Israeli army was to withdraw from the area, and the Lebanese forces were to take control.
However, the statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s office said that the Israeli army’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon was conditional on the deployment of Lebanese troops, the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, and Hezbollah pulling back from the Litani River
