Imam-ul-Haq likely to join Pakistan’s Squad for the 2nd test against West Indies

MULTAN: The second and final Test between Pakistan and the West Indies will start on Saturday, and Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq anticipated to joined the team.

In the first Test, played in Multan, Pakistan defeated the West Indies by 127 runs on the third day.

In the first Test against the West Indies, Mohammad Haris made his Test debut and opened the innings with captain Shan Masood. However, if Imam-ul-Haq is included in the team, he will open the innings with Haris, while captain Shan Masood will bat at number three.

The team management and selection committee are considering adding an extra batter for the slow and turning pitch in Multan, which may lead to the dropping of the only fast bowler in the team, Khurram Shehzad.

The 29-year-old Imam-ul-Haq last played a Test for Pakistan in December 2023 against Australia in Melbourne. The left-handed batsman has scored 1,568 runs at an average of 37.33 in 46 innings across 24 Tests, including 3 centuries and 9 half-centuries.

With unfit Saim Ayub and out-of-form Abdullah Shafique unavailable for selection ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, the selection committee is also keeping an eye on the experienced Imam-ul-Haq, which is likely the reason for his potential inclusion in the second Test in Multan.
