Peshawar (June 5, 2017): Father of murdered Mardan University student Mashal Khan, Iqbal Khan has demanded including the names of all the staff of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan who were involved in the killing of his son in the Exit Control List (ECL).
Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club Iqbal further said that the Joint Investigation Report (JIT) has proven his son innocent. Saying that he doesn’t want to fight his murdered son Mashal’s case in Mardan Iqbal asked it should be transferred to Peshawar High Court. He also demanded once again that Mashal’s murder case should be tried at a military court.

My opponents are highly influential, they killed my son mercilessly for his only fault being exposing the corruption at the University and because he had opposed increase in the fee and that became the main reason of his murder. In a weeping voice Iqbal said that his son was murdered inhumanely.
Thanking Chief Justice Supreme Court for taking suo moto notice of Mashal murder Iqbal said that he would get the justice when the killers of his son would be punished
My son died with Holy Kalima on his lips, Iqbal said. All the killers of Mashal should be arrested immediately and the names of all the suspects including office bearers of the University should be included in the ECL and they should be tried by a military court.
It may be mentioned that a high level Joint Investigation Team was handed over the responsibility to probe the killing of Mashal. The JIT submitted a report which said that a plan was chalked out for murdering Mashal and that a particular political group felt threatened by Mashal’s activities while University administration was enraged with him too because he used to talk openly about the irregularities in the University.
JIT report further says that no proof of religious blasphemy against Mashal Khan or his colleagues and friends were found. The particular political group incited the people for violence and firing in the name of religion. Mashal last talked to Hostel warden after the violence perpetrated on him and after firing and his last words were that “he is a Muslim” and he recited Kalima and plead to be tken to hospital.
It may be mentioned here that Mashal Khan was murdered by an angry and agitated mob over allegation of blasphemy on April 13 in the courtyard of Abdul Wali Khan University. Supreme Court had taken suo moto of Mashal murder.
