Karachi: House Fall, Op on To Rescue People From Rubble

Karachi (July 18, 2017): Bodies of three people have been pulled from under the debris of the three-storey, which was collapsed last night.

Over 20 people are still feared to remain buried under the debris while eight people have reportedly being injured in the deadly collapse in Liaquatabad area here.

Heavy machinery are being brought in as the works to clear the rubble continues. The rescue and relief works are being hindered by narrow lanes that could not accommodate heavy machinery.

A large number of Rangers and police personnel are also busy in the rescue and relief works.

Meanwhile, Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has ordered the completion of the rescue operation at the earliest. Talking to media at the site of the incident he said that nothing could be said with certainty about the numbers of the people buried under the rubble. The Sindh Building Control Authority has constantly been informed about the dilapidated buildings but it fails to take any action, he added.
