Kashmir Dispute Resolve Imperative for Lasting Peace: Asif

Islamabad (August 7, 2017): Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif says durable peace in South Asia is impossible without resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute.

He was talking to AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, situation in occupied Kashmir, particularly martyrdom of youth in fake encounters and arrest of Hurriyat leaders also came under discussion.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan has the capability to defend its boundaries, however, we want cordial and peaceful relations with India.

Foreign Minister urged Indian government to respond positively to the efforts of Pakistan to bring peace to the region.

AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan said that India wants to change demography in occupied Kashmir by issuing certificates to non-state subjects.

Both leaders appealed international community to take notice of the Indian brutalities and gross human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir.
