Khursheed Shah Demands Govt To Bring 4-Month Budget       

Islamabad (April 27, 2018): Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that he was not happy with the disqualification of the PML-N MNA and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Khawaja Asif, who was disqualified in a IHC decision for possessing UAE Iqama yesterday.

Talking to media, Khursheed Shah said that he recommended Nawaz Sharif to eliminate this article repeatedly from the constitution but unfortunately he did not cooperate over it.

“It would have been better if the judges would have sent this matter to the parliament as the political issues should be dealt politically,” he said adding what happened with Asif now was a legal action which is not good for the parliamentary system.Lambasting the former dictator General Zia ul Haq, the PPP stalwart said that this article was inducted by Zia ul Haq and was aimed at targeting the politicians and even after his death he is not sparing politicians. “His political children are now facing consequences of these amendments in the constitution,” he said.

Speaking on the budget to be tabled from the federal government today, Shah said that the government is playing with dignity of the Parliament by presenting a year budget as it is only entitled to give budget for four months.

“The government is introducing a new trend of tabling a year budget and it should table four months budget,” he said adding that nothing good could be expected for masses from the government in this budget as it failed to provide any relief to masses in past five years.“The new investments did not came in this government tenure but on the contrary, they had raised the debt level to all time high,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the PML-N government will present its sixth consecutive Federal Budget for the next financial year in National Assembly today, Friday,  with an estimated outlay of over 550 trillion rupees.

The National Assembly has been summoned to meet today for presentation of the federal budget.The budget will lend focus on improving economic growth, maintaining fiscal discipline, boosting exports besides providing relief to the masses and promoting investment for job creation.

The total outlay of the budget likely to be 5500 billion rupees, tax revenue collection target will be set Rs 4433 biillion  while the total deficit of the budget will be 1870.

The target of growth rate has been proposed to set at 602 per cent, agricultural development target will be 3.8 per cent and the salaries of government employees will be increase by 10 percent.

It will also focus on social sector development and revenue enhancement measures.

On revenue side, the government would introduce measures for bringing improvement in the system of tax collection, broadening the tax base, and facilitation to tax payers.
