KARACHI: The fire that had been burning in the Korangi Creek area of Karachi has suddenly been extinguished after 18 days.
According to the sources , after the fire was put out, gas is still leaking, which has caused a foul smell to spread in the area. Authorities are preventing unauthorized individuals from approaching due to the gas leak.
The fire erupted on March 29, during drilling activities for a water well at a vacant lot associated with a private construction firm.
A substantial 1200-foot pit was excavated, and it was during this process that gas began to escape, leading to an unexpected ignition and subsequent fire.
In light of the ongoing situation, the spokesperson for the Chief Secretary of Sindh announced yesterday that they are seeking the expertise of American specialists to assist in extinguishing the flames that ignited near the oil refinery in Korangi Creek during the drilling operations.
