KU Postpones MA Paper due to Non Teaching Staff Strike

Karachi (June 15, 2017): Karachi University’s MA exam scheduled to be held today has been postponed because authorities could not print the paper due to non teaching staff strike.

According to details KU’s Examination Department is being closed because the non-teaching staff is on strike over non-payment of Leave Encashment.

Due to strike the paper of the MA exam scheduled to be held today was not printed yesterday. The exam scheduled for today has thus been postponed.

According to the striking workers of the Examination Department the University has to pay tens of millions under the head of Leave Encashment. We were forced to go on strike because the Vice Chancellor did not accept our demands, the striking workers said adding that the boycott of the examination will continue till their demands are met.

It may be mentioned here that in August last year millions of rupees corruption was unearthed under the head of  encashment and overtime. Many banks, canteens and petrol pumps were reportedly allowed to operate without any agreement in Karachi University while millions of rupees were also reportedly issued illegally in the name of leave encashment and overtime, whereas NAB has begun investigation against current and Former Vice Chancellors.

According to NAB sources, annually 90 million rupees were issued illegally under the head of leave encashment, while millions of rupees were disbursed illegally under the head of overtime. Over 50 residential quarters of Karachi University were occupied by influential people, while different banks, canteens and petrol pumps were also operating illegally.
