SHAHDADKOT: A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and fined him Rs1 million for murdering his brother following a dispute over a minor child.
Additional Sessions Judge-II Muhammad Ali Memon convicted Sajjad Ali, son of Munawar Ali Gopang, in the murder case and handed down the sentence.
The court also ordered that Sajjad would undergo an additional one-year imprisonment if he failed to pay the imposed fine.
According to police, Sajjad attacked and killed his brother, Ikhtiar Gopang, with an axe during a dispute in village Hamal Gopang, located in Miro Khan tehsil, on July 29, 2024.
The murder case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Riaz Hussain Gopang.
Following the announcement of the verdict, police transferred the convict to Larkana Central Jail under heightened security.
