LAHORE: A medical examination has confirmed that an Azerbaijani woman was sexually assaulted in Lahore’s Defence area, police said Monday. The alleged attack took place over the weekend.
Police said a key suspect, identified as Mohsin, was arrested on Sunday, while two people suspected of helping the men were also detained. Investigators are searching for two additional suspects.
According to police, the woman was allegedly given a drugged substance at a café before the assault. The suspects are said to have left her near the airport and fled. Police also reported recovering a vehicle allegedly used in the incident from the home of a relative of the main suspect, who is reportedly missing.
Investigators said the woman had travelled to Pakistan several times and was in Lahore for work related to the clothing trade, travelling regularly between Lahore and Faisalabad. Police said she can understand and speak Urdu.
The allegations remain under investigation.
