RAWALPINDI: Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired the 272nd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The meeting began with a prayer for the martyrs of recent terrorist incidents allegedly linked to Indian-backed terror groups. The COAS praised the resilience, dedication, and determination of Pakistan’s Armed Forces in combating foreign-supported terror networks and highlighted their role in extensive relief efforts following recent floods, working alongside civil authorities and law enforcement agencies.
During the conference, a thorough assessment was made of ongoing counter-terrorism operations, emerging threats, and military preparedness. The forum reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ readiness to thwart adversaries’ designs across all domains. It emphasized that the dangerous nexus between terrorism and crime, allegedly supported by political interests, threatens national security and will not be tolerated any longer.
The forum expressed serious concern over recent provocative and irresponsible statements by Indian military and civilian leaders. Such rhetoric, they argued, aims to escalate tensions for political gain and risks regional stability. The participants pledged that any Indian aggression would meet a prompt and forceful response, challenging the notion of India’s perceived security advantage due to geography. They asserted that any so-called “new normal” of peace would be countered with a “new normal” of swift retribution.
Additionally, the commanders committed to intensifying comprehensive counter-terrorism operations across all domains, targeting Indian-sponsored terror groups like Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan. The forum also acknowledged Pakistan’s recent diplomatic efforts and reaffirmed its commitment to regional and global peace. It welcomed the historic Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia, aimed at bolstering strategic cooperation and joint responses to external threats, emphasizing shared values and mutual respect.
Furthermore, the participants reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, in line with UN Security Council resolutions. The forum also reiterated unwavering support for Palestine, advocating for an early ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Gaza, and endorsed a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital.
In his closing address, the COAS directed commanders to uphold the highest standards of operational preparedness, discipline, fitness, innovation, and responsiveness. He expressed full confidence in the Pakistan Army’s readiness to counter a wide spectrum of threats—including conventional, unconventional, hybrid, and asymmetric challenges.
