This is the third major injury to the Islamabad squad. Before this, the team lost their vice-captain Rumman Raees as he was ruled out due to a knee injury.

Andre Russell also suffered an injury early in the competition. It was particularly disappointing for the West Indian as he was returning from a year-long ban for a doping violation.

Injury also bared the star Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi from playing an all important third eliminator match of the PSL between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. Karachi Kings lost the match by 14 runs.
